Wednesday in the wiser webbers of crypto, Bitcoin (BTC) was at $40,000 when the day began, but found itself down at $39,600 late in the first quarter (first six hours). From there, BTC came out swinging, climbing all the way up to $41,400 by midday. For the rest of the day, or during the second half, “Bit” stayed in a tight channel between $41,250 and $41,500, before eventually retiring somewhere in the middle at $41,300 going into Thursday. Bitcoin, now down 5% for the week, is still up 4% for the month, but down 35% for the year, while its marketcap is at $782 billion. Bitcoin dominance, meanwhile, is at 39% oddly versus all cryptoassets.
Looking at Ether (ETH) on hump day, the asset was trading at $3,050 when the day began, before falling to $3,000 by the end of the first quarter. With strong support from the bulls at that level, ETH rose to $3,100 around midday. From there, ETH would trade rangebound between $3,100 and $3,125 in the second half, and eventually retire at $3,115, respectively. Ether, while down 2% for the week, is still up 20% for the month and 34% for the year, while its marketcap is at $373 billion.
As for the altcoin sector on Wednesday, the ‘Top 100’ assets-by-marketcap closed with 90% of them in the green. From that list, there were also seven double-digit winners, and no losers in that category. The biggest gainers of the day were, in order of larger-sized marketcap altcoins first: Bitcoin Cash (BCH) went up 12%, ApeCoin (APE) up 11%, THORChain (RUNE) up 18%, Zilliqa (ZIL) up 16%, Chiliz (CHZ) up 11%, Synthetix (SNX) up 12% and Compound (COMP) went up 19% to wrap up another day in crypto. The total marketcap of all cryptoassets, meanwhile, is back above $2 trillion once again and currently at $2.007 trillion.
