Monday in the mesmeric moonbow of crypto, Bitcoin (BTC) started the week just above $20,000, at $20,050 to be specific, and danced along that price line for the greater part of the day, only slipping to $19,950 in the 17th hour, or halfway into the third quarter (13th to 18th hours). From there, “Bit” got right back above $20,000 once again, this time to retire at $20,025 going into Tuesday. BTC is back down across the board on all time frames: 2% for the week, 30% for the month and 42% for the year, while its marketcap is $380 billion. Meanwhile, Bitcoin dominance is still 41.1% versus all cryptoassets.
The world’s second-largest crypto, Ether (ETH) was trading at $1,150 when the clocks turned Monday, and, like “Bit” brother, gave up some value through the most part of the day, falling to $1,095 in the third quarter, around the same time BTC dipped to $19,550, respectively. After building support along that price zone, ETH got right back above $1,100 in the fourth quarter, only to later retire at $1,125 leading into Tuesday. ETH, now also down all time frames, is minus 6% for the week, 29% for the month and 49% for the year, while its marketcap is $130 billion.
As for the altcoin sector on Monday, for the fourth day now the Top-100 closed with the majority in red, with 85% of the bunch closing as losers again like the previous day. From that list, however, there was only one big loser, Aave (AAVE), which went down 10%, with no big winners beside it. The total marketcap of all cryptoassets, meanwhile, dipped 3% in the same time period to what is now $925 billion, like sterling silver.
